PBIS Assessment to Retire the BAT and MATT

Starting July 31, PBIS Assessment will no longer support the BAT or the MATT. Here are the details you need to know.

The list of surveys in PBIS Assessment will soon decrease by two. Starting July 31, PBIS Assessment will no longer support the Monitoring Advanced Tiers Tool (MATT) or the Benchmarks of Advanced Tiers (BAT). We encourage schools who typically use these surveys to assess their Tier 2 and Tier 3 systems to use the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (TFI) instead.

If your team took the MATT or the BAT in the past, not all is lost. On August 1, you will be able access previous MATT and BAT survey data under Reports in PBIS Assessment.

School teams should feel confident using the TFI to assess their Tier 2 and Tier 3 implementation. The TFI contains fewer questions, strongly correlates to the MATT and the BAT, and replaces the need for multiple surveys assessing similar implementation features. With this survey, teams assess and view their schools’ implementation levels across all three tiers in one place.

This spring is a great time to take the TFI for the first time. For teams new to the TFI, we have a few resources to help get you acquainted with the survey:
